Puppy Classes

This is a 6-week course taught to puppies between the ages of 4-9 months.  We will learn how to prevent behaviors before they become habits, basic commands such as sit, down, come, wait and leave it just to name a few.  We will learn how to properly socialize with both dogs and humans and basic good manners for our puppies.  Time will be reserved in each class to discuss any issues that might be coming up and how best to manage those issues.

Beginner Class

This is a 6-week course taught to dogs over 9 months old with little or no training.  We will work on basic commands such as sit, down, come, wait and leave it just to name a few.  We will work on basic good manners along with impulse control and learning how to politely walk on a leash.  Time will be reserved in each class to discuss any issues that might be coming up and how best to manage those issues.

Intermediate Class

This is a 6-week course taught to dogs who have a firm grasp on basic training skills.  They must be able to sit, down, come, wait, leave it and be able to walk on a leash with good manners.  In this class we will learn more difficult commands such as stay, heel, and go to bed just to name a few.  We will work on adding distance and distractions on their basic commands.  Time will be reserved in each class to discuss any issues that might be coming up and how best to manage those issues.

Advanced Class – THIS IS TAUGHT AS A PRIVATE CLASS ONLY

This is a 4-week course taught to dogs who have completed the intermediate class training or who have had previous training and have permission to join the class.  In this class we will work on the consistency and promptness of response to commands.  We will add in even more distance and distraction and we will review the steps that will come next to earn an AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate.  We will discuss the decrease in incentive for the dogs as they move further along in their training.  If time allows, we can add in a few tricks such as crawl, roll over and bow. 

Dog Parent Class

This is a 2-part class consisting of a 60 minute in person classroom type training session with the humans only! Followed by a 60 minute private training session with each human and their dog. In this class you will learn how to communicate with your dog, learn why your dog does some of the strange behaviors they do, and why they don’t listen. You will learn how to identify stress in your dog and learn how to help your dog cope with the stress triggers in their lives. You will learn how to see the world from your dogs perspective.
